Stanton C. 2012. Plant Yourself in My Neighborhood: An Ethnographic Landscape Study of Farming and Farmers in Columbia County, New York. Boston, Massachusetts

This study creates an ethnohistorical context for understanding the mid-nineteenth century farming activities of President Martin Van Buren (1782-1862) at Lindenwald in Kinderhook, NY, and provides insight into contemporary Columbia County agriculture, as a way of supporting Martin Van Buren National Historic Site's expanded management focus on farming.
