Southern Colorado Plateau Network and Drost C. Inventory of Mammals at Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, and Sunset Crater National Monuments, WUPA_WACA_mammal_Inv.mdb. Within the boundaries of Hubbell Trading Post NHS and Navajo National Monument.
Fieldwork for the inventory focused on small mammals, primarily bats and rodents. Fieldwork for terrestrial small mammals used trapping with Sherman and Tomahawk small- and medium-sized mammal traps, along with visual surveys for diurnal species. The majority of field sampling for terrestrial small mammals was carried out in 2002 through 2004. There are a total of 48 native mammal species currently known to occur at Walnut Canyon N.M. and one non-native species occurs as an occasional trespass animal. At Wupatki, there are also 48 native mammal species documented, and three additional non-native species.
