The GRSM Hemlock Woolly AdelgidTreatment Database is an internal database for the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) management program at GRSM. IT contains site location information, and daily treatment records, for both chemical and biological treatments within the park since the program started in 2002. This database exists to serve as the long-term primary data source for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid treatment location information, and field data for the treatment of HWA in GRSM. Hemlock Woolly Adelgid is an invasive forest pest native to Asia that was first discovered in the park in 2002. Since that point, a hemlock woolly adelgid treatment program has been underway that utilizes both chemical control and biological control methods. Chemical controls include foliar spraying contact insecticides (horticultural oil and soap) directly onto hemlock trees, as well as the application of systemic insecticides through either soil drenching or direct stem injections. Biological control methods include the release of 3 species of predatory beetles that feed on HWA. This database is set up similar to the NPS NRDT format. The main tables of the database are tbl_Locations, tbl_Events, tbl_Chemical_Treatments, and tbl_Biological_Treatments.
