Feral hog track and sign abundance is recorded along with the state of tanks in the North Rosillos area for 2008. In the Northern Rosillos area of Big Bend National Park, water sources are used to record and understand the migration patterns and distribution of feral hogs. The water entrapments vary from natural springs and runoff accumulation areas to tanks made of earth, cement and metal decaying at different rates. Water sources were monitored for hog sign between August 6th and October 8th.Signs of hog were most prevalent in Chalk Draw and Nine Point Draw. These are areas of lower relief and are likely to collect runoff from rain events, creating suitable habitat for feral hogs.While the presence of scat, wallowing, and rooting were helpful, hog tracks were the major identifier for determining if they were in the area or not.
