Leioderma cherokeense P. M. Jørg. & Tønsberg sp. nov. is described from North Carolina, U.S.A., where it grows on bases of trunks of Liriodendron tulipifera. Apothecia and structures for vegetative dispersal are not known. The genus Leioderma is new to eastern North America.
