This book presents an overview of the various aspects of Elwha River Restoration. It includes discussion of the river environment, the relationship of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe to the river, the history of the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams, how attitudes towards the dams changed over time, how the fishery issue provided support for dam removal, and a description of the hopes for the recovery of the salmon runs to restored river ecosystem. Dam removals from other parts of the country are compared in relation to the Elwha River Restoration efforts. Climate change impacts in the Elwha River are addressed.
