Plots were installed by USGS scientists for research purposes and were absorbed into the fire effects monitoring program in 2005. Methods were altered slightly from the original at that time. Photographs are taken from the plot center to document change. Data collected include: tree inventory to obtain density and basal area (7.98m radius), fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, shrub & seedling density (5.64m radius), and frequency data from 0.5m^2 squares.
