Applicable remote sensing and cultural monitoring research

Drake S, Villarreal M, McGovern J. 2006. Applicable remote sensing and cultural monitoring research. National Park Service

... For this project we acquired multispectral, high-spatial resolution Quickbird imagery to assess border-related impacts at three parks: Chiricahua Nat. Mon., Ft. Bowie NHS and Palo Alto Battlefield NHS. We quantified the use of various image processing methods for extracting information about trails and trash sites. A literature review on remote detection of disturbed areas was conducted and suggestions for alternate image processing techniques are provided.
