This study compares the productivity of ravine vs. bench forest types, in declining hemlock stands. Ravines sites were located in Delaware Water Gap NRA, at Hornbecks Creek and Tumbling Waters Creek. Bench sites were located in Delaware State Forest. Measures of reproductive success, foraging behavior, and habitat use were used. Breeding density was found to be significantly higher at bench sites. Bench pairs also produced more fledglings per km, exhibited higher pairing success, and were more frequently double-brooded than their ravine counterparts.
