The USGS operates a real-time platform just beyond park waters off the east tip of East Ship Island (30°15'27", 88°52'15" NAD83) http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?301527088521500 This station began operation in August 2008 and provides 15-minute updates on water temperature, gage height, specific conductance and salinity, as well as a host of meteorological data. The US Geological Survey occupies this station on a six-week service interval.
