This report contains information and data about the proposed parkway along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal between Great Fall and Cumberland, Maryland. By Public Law 618, approved June 10, 1948, the Congress authorized a survey of the federally-owned Chesapeake and Ohio Canal between Great Falls, Maryland, and Cumberland, Maryland. The purpose of this act was to supply information for the use of the Congress upon the advisability and practicability of constructing a parkway upon the abandoned waterway. The following report contains the findings of this study, together with relevant phases of the historical background and pertinent engineering details.
