Fire effects monitoring data collected at Mount Rushmore N.M. in South Dakota. The data were collected during summer field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Wind Cave N.P. from 2010 - 2012. Data collected from vegetation transects are 50 meter point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover. Nested frequency data (2011-2012) are collected in ten frames (0.01, 0.1, 1, and 10m2 nested quadrats) to determine species diversity. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to document change. Data collected from forest plots include tree inventory to obtain density and basal area, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, and seedling density. Forest plots are designed either as 50 x 20 meter rectangular or circular 10 meter radius plots depending on if they are intensive (1000m2) or extensive (314m2) plots.
