Fire effects monitoring data collected at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. The data were collected during summer field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Ozark National Scenic Riverways from 2005 to 2012. Data collected from FMH-style 50 x 20 m "forest" plots in dry woodland natural communities include; tree inventory to obtain species, density, and basal area, fuel load using 4 Brown's method transects for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, tree seedling species and density from a 5 x 10 m subplot, vegetative cover using the point intercept method (2007-2011) for all species below 2 m high every 0.3 m along two 50 m transects, species richness (2006-2011) using 1 x 1 m quadrats every 10 m along two 50 m transects and 8 plot photos are taken at corners and midpoints along plot perimeter lines. "Modified" 20 x 20 m plots include most of the same monitoring metrics as the 20 x 50 m plots but the plots do not include species richness quadrats and modified have fewer data points/subplots for all other data except seedlings. Data collected from modified plots include tree inventory to obtain species, density, and basal area, fuel load using 2 Brown's method transects for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, tree seedling species and density from a 5 x 10 m subplot, vegetative cover using the point intercept method (2008-2011) for all species below 2 m high every 0.3 m along two 20 m transects and 4 plot photos are taken from the plot center (origin) to the midpoints along plot perimeter lines.
