Archaeological overview and assessment of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia
Ahlman TM, Guymon GL, Herrmann NP. 2005. Archaeological overview and assessment of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. Archeological Overview and Assessment. The University of Tennessee
The primary purpose of this report is to investigate, describe, and assess the known and potential archaeological resources within the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park boundaries. An archaeological overview and assessment (AOA) is the first step in creating a comprehensive cultural resource management plan within the park and provides the park a baseline for future archaeological investigations and research. This AOA has identified several issues regarding the identification, recording, and stewardship of archaeological sites within Cumberland Gap National Historical Park as well as recommendations for historic preservation.
