History and interviews related to fishtraps, which were operated in East Tennessee for small scale family subsistence and for commercial purposes. By the 1920s the Tennessee Department of State Game and Fish began to locate and destroy these fishtraps. Report includes photos of different fishtrap models, aerial photos of historic or abandoned fishtrap locations, and interview with residents who described fishing techniques and use of fishtraps.
