The Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network (NCBN) began monitoring salt marsh vegetation on a biennial basis at Colonial National Historical Park (COLO) in 2008. Due to safety and logistical concerns regarding site access, new permanent sites were established in 2012. This report summarizes the third year of vegetation data collected at COLO; however, only one of the sites was monitored in all three years. Vegetation monitoring at five sites was conducted July 23-27, 2012. The percent cover of each vegetation species and non-vegetation cover type within each 1 m2 plot (n = 250) was visually estimated using a revised Braun-Blanquet method. Twenty-six vegetation species and three non-vegetation cover types (bare ground, wrack & litter, and water) were observed.
