This study identifies nationally significant trails associated with the history of U.S. Army/American Indian campaigns in the trans-Mississippi West during the nineteenth century, describes major themes, events, and persons associated with the history of these conflicts, and makes recommendations for trails to be evaluated for potential designation as National Historic Trails and National Historic Landmarks.
