Using continuous particulate matter (PM) air samplers, The University of Montana –Center for Environmental Health Sciences(UM-CEHS) conducted a research program to determine the concentrations of PM liberated from the North Fork Road from July 17-August 31, 2007. UM-CEHS also conducted PM sampling within nine vehicles, quantifying the exposures to the occupants when traveling the road. In addition, traffic counters were deployed at three locations along the North Fork Road in an effort to gain an understanding of the traffic volume during a two-week period in mid-August.
