Grinnell Glacier, Glacier National Park, Montana
Gibson GR and Dyson JL. 1939. Grinnell Glacier, Glacier National Park, Montana. Geological Society of America Bulletin. 50:681-696
Study of the position of ice strata in various parts of Grinnell glacier. Information on the nature of ice motion , age of ice, and its probable thickness is described. Records dating to 1897 and direct observations over a 4-year period indicate that the glacier is roughly half the size it was in 1900, characterizing the recession as "rapid" as described by the authors.
