Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park Bat Inventory and Monitoring Study
Bate L. Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park Bat Inventory and Monitoring Study. 2011-2013
Knowledge about bats in Glacier NP is nearly nonexistent. Of 11 potential species in Glacier, six areMontana species of concern. This project seeks to make the investment in both equipment and training to allow park biologists to initiate and continue bat monitoring. Data collected would provide valuable information on bats for Glacier and partnering agencies/adjacent landowners. Obtaining basic information and initiating a systematic and repeatable sampling protocol for bats is a first step in understanding the impacts of potential threats from White-nose syndrome (WNS) fungus.
