This report is an administrative history that contains information to aid park management. This study has been evolving for a long time. It was originally intended to be a history of Katmai’s bear policies but the study’s scope was broadened into a general administrative history. Because of the nature of ongoing management problems, it was intended that the main themes of that management history would be Brooks Camp, bears, and fishing. An additional chapter or two would be devoted to remaining aspects of park management.
