Freshwater quality monitoring during water years 2009 and 2010 in Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Muir Woods National Monument, and Point Reyes National Seashore. This report summarizes freshwater quality data from Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA), Point Reyes National Seashore (PORE), and Muir Woods National Monument (MUWO) collected during water years 2009 and 2010 (10/1/2008 – 9/30/2010). Twenty-five sites in three watersheds were monitored during water years 2009-2010, including 11 sites in the Redwood Creek watershed (GOGA/MUWO), nine sites in the Lagunitas Creek watershed (PORE/GOGA), and five sites in the San Francisquito Creek watershed (GOGA). Sampling events included collection of field and laboratory water quality parameters, employing the methods set forth in the peer-reviewed SFAN Freshwater Quality Monitoring Protocol (Cooprider and Carson 2006). Core parameters measured in the field included temperature (air and water), dissolved oxygen, pH, specific conductance, turbidity, and discharge. Pathogenic bacteria parameters included Escherichia coli (E. coli) and total coliform (monitored at all sites) in addition to fecal coliform (only at select sites). Nutrient parameters included nitrate (as nitrogen), ammonia (as nitrogen) and total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN).
