Cape Cod Commission: report on continuing assessment activities at the Truro Landfill

Cambareri TC. 1996. To: Water Quality Advisory Committee. Re: Cape Cod Commission: report on continuing assessment activities at the Truro Landfill

I am pleased to submit this letter report on continuing assessment activities at the Truro Landfill. The Cape Cod Commission Water Resource Office (WRO) completed and submitted to the town a hydrogeologic investigation of the landfill in 1989. This report described a plume of contaminated groundwater found to be emanating from the landfill and old septage lagoons. Monitoring wells installed during the 1989 investigation found the plume 1,000 ft downgradient of the landfill. It was projected that the plume would flow along the regional groundwater flow paths an additional 2,000 ft to the north and ultimately discharge into the Pamet River. The report recommended an' additional investigation to identify the plume beyond the 1989 wells towards the Pamet River. The Water Quality Advisory Committee received approximately $3,000 from the town to undertake this additional investigation. This letter report summarizes the methods and findings of this investigation.
