As you noted in your letter, the browntail moth problem in Maine is relatively minor and localized in the Casco Bay area. Even though the problem was more extensive at one time, it never was and still is not much of a forestry problem in Maine. The State Department of Agriculture and the local office of the USDA - APHIS have handled most of the work on this pest in the past and earlier reports of the Maine Commissioner of Agriculture summarize efforts in Maine.
