Several years prior to the creation of the Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS), the town of Provincetown (MA) established a landfill on a 25-acre site west of Race Point Road and north of Route 6. The landfill site was subsequently incorporated within the boundary of the Cape Cod National Seashore. As a result, operation of the landfill has fallen under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. The work plan, as implemented, was intended to emphasize the evaluation of a suspected leachate plume headed in a southerly direction towards Monitoring Well (MW) 1. This concept was based on data observed by other investigators as part of a standard quarterly monitoring procedure [1]. Data collected at PML by Normandeau Engineering is included as Appendix I.
