This is the historic furnishings report for Eleanor Roosevelt’s home, Val-Kill, and gives descriptions of how it looked during her lifetime. The Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site was established May 26, 1977, by Public Law 97-32 “to commemorate for the education, inspiration, and benefit of present and future generations the life and work of an outstanding woman in American history, Eleanor Roosevelt…” The visitor will see Eleanor Roosevelt’s home, Val-Kill, as it looked during her lifetime. The furnishings will express the major themes as outlined in the Interpretive Prospectus, Val-Kill as Mrs. Roosevelt’s country home, as a reflection of her style and interests and a place where she lived on her own terms.
