Urgent Need: A Global System of Marine Parks and Reserves
Allen R. 1976. Urgent Need: A Global System of Marine Parks and Reserves. Parks. 1(3):1-3
A global network of marine parks and reserves is essential for the protection of the feeding, breeding, and resting areas of marine animals and for the maintenance of the sea's economic resources. In addition, marine reserves are needed to provide laboratories for research on the dynamics of the marine environment, controls against which we may measure the severity of human impact elsewhere, and stores of potentially valuable chemical compounds.
