Establishing Sampling Units and Subsample Transects for Wintering and Migratory Shorebird Monitoring

Byrne MW. 2013. Establishing Sampling Units and Subsample Transects for Wintering and Migratory Shorebird Monitoring

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) describes the procedures for identifying and establishing the sampling units and subsamples (i.e., transects) necessary for implementation of the line-transect methodology as part of the Southeast Coast Network (SECN) Methods for Monitoring Migratory and Wintering Shorebirds in Southeast Coast Network Parks (Byrne et al. 2009a). This SOP is integrally linked to the SOP 1.4.27-Conducting a Line Transect Survey for Monitoring Wintering and Migratory Shorebirds (Byrne 2013), and it is assumed that the readers will review that document in concert with this document. This SOP supersedes SOP #1 included in the Byrne et al. (2009a) wintering and migratory shorebird monitoring protocol.
