A discussion of the indicators for the livelihood of Bald Eagles within the park. 'In Acadia National Park, Maine, as well as elsewhere along the east coast of the United States, the Bald Eagle has apparently declined in numbers during the past decade, particularly as a breeding resident. Before World War II, approximately six pairs of these magnificent birds nested on or in the near vicinity of 100-sq. mi. Mount Desert Island where most of Acadia National Park is located. In the last few years, not more than three pairs are believed to have nested in this same territory.'
