We trapped small mammals and measured microhabitat variables (Ground cover type, vegetation density by height) in 13 random locations within Saguaro National Park, where small mammal habitat relationship had not previously been quantified. We captured 575 individuals of 14 species in 4038 trapnights. Of the 10 species trapped >20 times, we found statistically significant associations with ground cover type or vegetation structure for 9 species. We established associations for 7 species with primary vegetation type, these results agreed with known pattern patterns of distribution.
