The goal of this project was to evaluate the influence of light and nutrient resources relative to soil stressors as control of the patterns of mangrove forest development following hurricane disturbance in the Everglades National Park. The project supported dissertations Margueritte Koch at University of Miami (Chapters ONE and TWO) and Ronghua Chen of University of Southwestern Louisiana (Chapters THREE-SIX). Other products of this research project include manuscripts accepted or in submission to professional journals, and presentations at professional meetings and regional workshops. An additional product of this project is a M.S. thesis anticipated from Laura Lawton in December 1996, which was delayed due to an illness to Ms. Lawton requiring a one-year medical leave from university studies.
