The Lincoln Home National Historic Site was established in 1972 to further enable the visitor to more fully understand and appreciate Abraham Lincoln. This requires that the daily context in which Abraham Lincoln lived and developed as a father, friend and neighbor be made part of this educational experience. The Lincoln Home is the most significant structure in the National Historic Site and the focal point of all activity. The preservation of the Lincoln Home is of primary importance for continued use as a national historic structure. for assessment of the restoration required to keep the Lincoln Home a safe" stable, historic structure, the National Park Service commissioned Ferry and Henderson Architects, Inc. of Springfield, Illinois to prepare an Architectural Data Section of the Historic Structure Report. The scope of work requires documentation of historic development, detailed documentation of the existing as-is conditions, evaluation of existing conditions, recommendations for the historic restoration, and recommendations for the restoration of the structure to meet present day uses as defined by the National Park Service.
