Bare-earth beach elevation data. Grid elevation data derived from a LIDAR survey of Cape Cod National Seashore (CACO). LIDAR is a form of laser beach mapping which uses a pulsed laser ranging system mounted onboard an aircraft to take high density ground elevation measurements. This data is collected by NASA and sent to USGS for conversion to GeoTiff image files. It is then sent to the NPS, where it is converted into a grid for use in an ArcGIS software environment with elevation in each cell recorded in meters.
