This report has been prepared to provide an historical background to Wright Brothers National Memorial as cited by RSP WRBRH-1. From the insular Outer Banks of 1903 and 1926 to the Hatteras National Seashore today, the development of this region has been greatly influenced by the National Park Service and the "changing times." Those persons interested in or involved with Wright Brothers will find in this report an explanation of how the Memorial has grown and come to exist in its present state. Hopefully, the reader will gain a deeper appreciation for the directions in which the Memorial has developed and how these reflect its changing services to the people of the Outer Banks and to the nation.
