Union Pacific records, Bureau of Land Management files, and various public and private archives were researched for historic and architectural data. This provides a basis for building treatment and for interpretation. An archaeological evaluation of the site was conducted to determine important remaining historic features. Detailed but nondestructive building investigations were conducted to determine material conditions and evaluate requirements and alternatives for rehabilitation.
