This article describes the effects of logging in the Redwood Creek basin on resources of this part of Redwood National Park. The main focus is on the land added in 1978 with the goal of watershed protection and rehabilitation, and on park efforts to prevent sediment from washing into creeks. A description of planning and treatment techniques explains evolving methods, and the author notes accomplishments to date. More-recent work is taking into consideration the effects of long-term weather patterns and the cycle of heavy storms. Includes photographs of a rehabilitation site, a clearcut, and before-and-after views of Dolason Prairie.
