This article describes the decision and procedures used at Mammoth Cave National Park and Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area to plug abandoned oil and gas wells found within the parks. Identification of the wells, special problems associated with planning the well plugging, information on contracting out the work and problems encountered with the reclamation process as well as solutions utilized are discussed.
