A study was initiated in 1993 to test the hypothesis that panther habitat preferences, activity patterns, energy expenditure, and prey are impacted by public use of the Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida. Based on the results, arrangements are being made to collect similar data on the wild panthers at Big Cypress to assess human disturbance.
