2010 Aerial Moose Survey: Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve

We estimated the number of moose for an 8210 km2 area in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve during six days of surveys between 17-21 November 2010. During the surveys, we counted and classified 623 moose. Using geospatial sampling and analysis, we estimated the population at 1593 ± 225 moose (90% C.I.), with a density of 0.19 moose/km² (0.5 moose/mi²) The calf:bull:cow ratio was estimated at 17:50:100.
