This document reports on the results of an inventory of breeding and winter birds of the Blue Ridge Parkway conducted in the period of May 2003 – February 2005 by the authors. The purpose of this inventory was to document bird species found in this park during these two seasons as part of the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring program. Breeding season surveys were conducted using a point count method at many locations also used for separate inventories of vascular plants and other vertebrate taxa. The winter surveys were designed to record as many wintering species as possible by visiting selected habitat types of the park in day-long efforts. This report provides a brief summary of the resulting data which are provided in an electronic database along with the original hard-copy field datasheets.
