Ochopee Prairie and Turner River Watershed Restoration Mitigation for construction of Facilities on US41 (Tamiami Trail) Big Cypress National Preserve
The objective of this project is hydrologic restoration of wetlands adjacent to the Ochopee Prairie and Turner River areas of Big Cypress National Preserve. Concomitant restoration of biological communities in these areas is expected as areas of soil disturbance are removed and hydroperiods are restored. The restoration will consist of removing elevated areas (roads, canal berms) that obstruct over-land flow of water, and filling drainage canals.
