Virgin Islands Beach Processes Investigation St John, Virgin Islands Preliminary Report

Hoffman S, Robinson AH, Dolan R. 1973. Virgin Islands Beach Processes Investigation St John, Virgin Islands Preliminary Report. Occasional Paper No 1. National Park Service. Washington, DC

Studied beach processes on St. John at Hawksnest, Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. Looked at grain size, beach elevation, transportation of sediment under high-energy conditions, wave height vs. beach elevation. Recommends that beaches be left alone and recognized as constantly changes. Efforts to prevent erosion will disrupt the system.
