Historical Research Series Number 1: Lafayette Park, National Capital Region

Olszewski GJ. 1964. Historical Research Series Number 1: Lafayette Park, National Capital Region. Historic Resource Study. National Park Service. Washington, D.C.

This historical survey of Lafayette Park is a preliminary study and the first in a series of documented historical monographs to be published on the park areas and historic sties of Washington under the jurisdiction of the National Capital Region of the National Park Service. Each study will cover the legal origin and administrative authority of the specific park or historic site, the developmental states in park landscaping, and the present use and value to the community. They are specifically designed to illustrate the historical significance and value of each park or historic site, to aid in preserving their natural beauty from the inroads of non-park projects, and to serve as authoritative reference works on the specific subjects of the papers.
