Forest vegetation monitoring: Mid-Atlantic Network 2012 summary report

Comiskey JA. 2013. Forest vegetation monitoring: Mid-Atlantic Network 2012 summary report. Natural Resource Data Series. NPS/MIDN/NRDS—2013/555. National Park Service. Fort Collins, Colorado

In 2012, 75 forest vegetation monitoring plots that were established in 2008 in eight parks of the Mid-Atlantic Network and eight plots in two parks of the Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network were revisited. Twelve new plots were established in Colonial National Historical Park. Summary statistics are provided for forest metrics. For plots that were revisited, preliminary forest dynamics metrics were calculated including mortality, recruitment, and growth and presented by park, community type, species, size class, and canopy category. Temporal analyses are preliminary as only half the plots have been resampled once.
