Heritage documentation Programs (HDP), part of the National Park Service, administers the Historic American Buildmgs Survey (HABS) and companion programs the Historic American Engineering Record (HAFR), the Historic American Landscape Survey (HALS), and the Cultural Resources Geographic Information Systems (eRG IS). Documentation produced through the programs constitutes the nation's largest archive of histo ric architectural, engineering and landscape documentation. Records on nearly 40,000 historic sites, consisting of large format, black and white photographs, measured drawings, and writlen hislOrical reports, arc maintained in a special collection at the Library) of Congress.
