National Park Service Cultural Resources Strategic Plan

1997. National Park Service Cultural Resources Strategic Plan. National Park Service. Washington, D.C.

In order to celebrate the richness and diversity of American traditions and accomplishments and enhance the quality of the built environment, the National Park Service (NPS) - through direct stewardship of park resources and a nationwide network of partnerships in archaeology and historic preservation - is dedicated to the understanding, preservation, and expanded appreciation of our national heritage. Although much has been done to identify, recognize, and preserve our national heritage, substantial portions of our patrimony are as yet unrecognized, poorly understood, and lost or degraded.
