From 2003 through 2005 we conducted a resurvey of the terrestrial vertebrate fauna (mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians) at 21 sites within Yosemite National Park (YNP) that were originally studied between 1911-1920 by Joseph Grinnell and other staff of the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, University of California at Berkeley. The early survey provides the vast majority of available knowledge of the vertebrate fauna of the Park, yet that information is now nearly a century out of date. Our resurveys provide updated information on habitat and community changes at each site over the past century while documenting the presence as well as ranges (geographic and habitat) of species of special concern to the Park and to both the lay and scientific community. Substantial changes in the presence and elevational distribution of species have been noted.
