The following discussion is based on a comparison of permanent plots established by Bill Pfitsch on Klahhane Ridge in 1979. These plots were re-measured in 1985 using identical methods and quadrats. Since snow melted sooner and the season was drier in 1985, measurements were taken two weeks earlier. The primary pupose of the work was to determine if recovery of plant communities occurred as the mountain goat populations was reduced.
