Within the past few years, archaeological research within the Tularosa Basin of south-central New Mexico has increased leading to new insights into general prehistoric land-use patterns and subsistence strategies. This thesis is an in-depth study of the cultural sites at White Sands National Monument, known as “hearth mounds”, and the thermal features they contain.
