This list represents the vascular plants known to occur within the boundaries of the Big Cypress National Preserve. It is based primarily on specimens in the herbarium of Everglades National Park, located at the South Florida Research Center. Species which have been seen by the authors within the preserve, but which are not currently represented by herbarium specimens from Big Cypress in the Everglades National Park herbarium, are marked by asterisks. A few species are included that are known from speciments in herbaria other than the one at the park. In such cases the locations of the specimen are indicated on the list. Appendix III: Index of scientific names and Appendix !V: Index of common names has been added in this reprint. August 1983.
